What Books is
Worknilo Books is the accounting product at https://books.worknilo.com. It is a separate application with its own data store. Worknilo (Pulse/Pay) can act as the identity provider and optionally share payroll-related data through integrations.
You can enable Books for an organization without requiring every other module. Day-to-day ledger, A/R, A/P, and banking work happens inside Books, not inside the Pulse admin.
Enable Books and grant seats
- In Worknilo Settings, enable the Books module for the organization (via modules / billing controls your role can access).
- When Books is newly enabled, owners and payroll admins may receive default access automatically.
- Open the Books access panel in Settings to grant or revoke seats for other members who should SSO into Books.
- External accountants may be invited inside Books itself; they might not appear as Pulse employees.
SSO only succeeds for organizations where Books is enabled and the user has a Books seat (or falls under the default owner/payroll-admin access rules when seats are not otherwise configured).
Sign in with SSO
- Go to https://books.worknilo.com (or use an Open Books link from Worknilo when shown).
- Choose the Worknilo sign-in path so OAuth PKCE can issue a short-lived authorization for the Books client.
- Pick the correct organization if you belong to more than one.
- Continue accounting work in Books. Return to Worknilo for scheduling, time, and payroll runs.
What this guide does not cover
Chart of accounts, bank reconciliation, and Books-native workflows belong in Books product documentation. Partner machine-to-machine API credentials are for integrators, not typical end users, and are omitted here.
